Farewells

A proper goodbye.

A funeral isn't simply a ceremony to get through. It's an opportunity to remember a life, bring people together and say goodbye in a way that feels true to the person being remembered.

Independent funeral and farewell celebrant, working across Scotland.

Every life has its own story.

There is no right way to say goodbye.

Some families want a traditional funeral. Others want something less formal. There might be laughter alongside the tears, favourite music, familiar stories, moments of quiet reflection or something completely unexpected.

I'll take the time to listen to you and the people who knew them best, then create a ceremony that reflects who they were, rather than relying on a standard script.

What I can help with

Farewells can take many forms

Funeral ceremonies
A personal ceremony that brings together the stories, people, music and words that matter.

Celebrations of life
A chance to remember someone honestly and warmly, celebrating the person beyond the circumstances of their death.

Memorial ceremonies
For families who choose to hold a ceremony at a later time or in a place that has particular meaning.

Other farewells
Ashes ceremonies, remembrance gatherings and other ways of marking a life and saying goodbye.

You don't have to know what to say.

When someone dies, there can be an enormous amount to organise alongside the grief.

You don't need to arrive with a finished story or know exactly what you want the ceremony to look like.

That's where I come in.

I'll listen, ask questions and help you find the words. We will reflect on the stories and the moments that matter, and I'll guide you through creating the ceremony.

You don't have to do it alone.

Your beliefs. Your choices.

As an independent celebrant, I can create ceremonies that are religious, spiritual, non-religious or a combination of different traditions and beliefs.

If faith is an important part of someone's life, it can have a meaningful place in the ceremony.

If it isn't, that's equally okay.

The ceremony should reflect the person and their family.
